Are bioethanol stoves easy to use?
All are easy to use, some are easier than others. Some stoves are manually lit and regulated, whereas others have remote control stove with electronic ignition.
Do they produce any heat?
Depending upon the model, bioethanol stoves can produce between 2.5kW-3.5kW of heat into the room - which is more than an electric fire, and roughly equivalent to many gas fires.
Do they need a flue?
No, since they don't release smoke or harmful gases, there's no need for chimneys or traditional venting systems. However, as with any combustion process, adequate room ventilation is essential to provide a fresh air supply to the stove.
How long do they burn for?
The length of time a bioethanol stove burns for varies according to the size of fuel tank in the stove, some burn for 4-5 hours, others can burn for twice that and more before needing refuelling.
Can I adjust the flame on a bioethanol stove?
Many bioethanol stoves come equipped with adjustable burners, allowing users to control the flame's intensity and heat output. By regulating the flame, you can set the ambience and warmth of your room to your preference. (the range of controlability varies across the various stoves).
Are they safe to use indoors?
Yes, bioethanol stoves are designed for indoor use, and are totally safe provided users follow the manufacturer's safety guidelines.
Where can I buy bioethanol fuel?
Bioethanol fuel is becoming increasingly available. It can be found at many home improvement stores (such as B&Q), and is available on many online platforms. When purchasing, choosing bioethanol fuel designed explicitly for stove usage is essential to ensure a safe and efficient burn.
