Barbecue season is here
It is officially barbecue season! The sun is finally shining and temperatures are starting to rise. Time to fire up the grill and invite your friends round for some sizzling steaks and succulent sausages – but with a traditional barbecue it’s all too easy to get dry frazzled steaks and charcoal sausages.
So here at The Stove & Fireplace Studio we have looked for the best in Outdoor Cooking equipment to give you the greatest barbecue taste experience available, and we are pleased to introduce to you the Kamado Joe and the Ozpig.
The name “kamado” is the Japanese word for “stove” or “cooking range”. The Japanese character for it literally translates as “place for the cauldron”.
Kamado has now become a generic term for a cooker that is a round clay/ceramic pot with a removable domed clay/ceramic lid.
The Kamado Joe cooker is made of high-fire, heat resistant ceramic with two temperature control vents to allow you to get the perfect cooking temperature and a flexible cooking grill system to allow you to have different heat zones within the vessel to ensure that everything is cooked to perfection.
Kamado Joe cookers use lumpwood charcoal (not briquettes) to get the wonderful wood-fire flavor to your grilled food, a flavor you just won’t get from a gas grill.
Lump charcoal produces less ash than charcoal briquettes, so you’ll have considerably less cleanup with Kamado Joe. Plus, unburned lump charcoal can be reignited the next time you use your grill. And, Kamado Joe features a patented ash drawer that makes cleanup easier than ever!
Kamado Joe CookingA key advantage of Kamado Joe’s ceramic vessel is its ability to insulate. Not only does this require less total heat for cooking, it also lets you cook at significantly higher temperatures or at very low temperatures for a significantly longer time. Combine this with the ability to not only control, but fine-tune temperature, and you get a grill that is extremely versatile.
KAMADO JOE is a grill First and foremost, Kamado Joe is a grill. Its ceramic construction and unique shape, along with using lump charcoal, mean moister meats and wood-fire flavour.
KAMADO JOE is a smoker. With Kamado Joe’s ability to control temperature and thanks to the long-burning stamina of lump charcoal, you’ll be able to use your Kamado Joe as a smoker or a slow cooker (it will maintain low temps for up to 12 hours without adding lump charcoal).
KAMADO JOE will sear your steaks. Thanks to the insulative properties of Kamado Joe and the ability of lump charcoal to generate significant heat, you’ll be able to achieve temperatures up to 750° F. This means you can sear a steak. It will come off sizzling, just like it does at the high-end steak houses.
KAMADO JOE will bake you pizzas (using the optional pizza stone accessory). Many people believe that a pizza baked on a Kamado Joe is the best pizza they’ve ever had. The same goes for bread. The versatile Ozpig cooker/heater was designed and developed by a husband and wife who have always loved camping and the spirit of adventure. It remains a family owned, Australian Company based in Queensland, Australia.
The Ozpig, which resembles a small pig on legs, has a specially designed chimney and is used with the door in an open position to provide the enjoyment and ambience of a contained fuel efficient, open fire.
